Winter

These photographs represent an initial exploration of winters distinct qualities and quiet transformations. After the rich excesses of autumn winter follows not as an absence of these but as a quiet resolution. With the arrival of Winter comes a stillness in the landscape. Sounds soften, colours become muted and the woodlands and verges are stripped back to reveal their bare shapes and textures. Winter light carries a particular clarity, lower in the sky it reveals rather than conceals, tracing the exposed branches and dancing on frost and water droplets accentuating the beauty of this season.
